Before I bring bad news, let me remind everyone that the calendar is a fundraiser to support children in Guatemala. It is not a commercial product from a company earning a profit.
With that said, we were misinformed when we were told they had shipped. Those actually shipped last Thursday, not the week before.
Secondly, I completely screwed up when I sent out the mailing list. Long story short, if you used Pay Pal, odds are it has not shipped. The good news is that it will shortly. We'll miss X-MAS but ought to make New Year's. I deeply apologize for my error.

I admit it, I stole the title from Olberman's "Countdown" Show. Each day, Keith Olberman picks the three most idiotic or shameful newsbites to proclaim who is facetiously the worst person in the world that day. He actually stole the idea from some old radio show or newspaper.
I found the story below about Warren Buffet and his granddaughter. Upfront, I've always been a fan of Buffet and this story doesn't speak of his side of things. It is obviously his choice to do with his money as he wishes. He's totally entitiled to cut off a grandchild from his wealth. But if he in fact wrote the letter mentioned in this story, the one where he says he and others in the family never adopted this girl, then Warren - you are today's worst person in the world! Shame on you for lashing out like my three year old and being so cruel!!! Adopted or biological - she's your granddaughter!!!!

Calendars started shippng out last Friday. All should be in UPS's hands by Tuesday 12/16. They are shippijng UPS Ground, leaving from Wisconsin. So they should start arriving at doors this week. We always cut it close, but we always get them out.
Please wait as long as possible before asking for information on shipping. Unfortunately, we don't have a simple way on calendars to get the tracking number atttached to your order.

Anyone that has run into any complication in an adoption knows how hard it is to find people who will help and not just blow you off. Sadly, this is the worst when dealing with the government. He's a nice story about a great guy at USCIS who I can say from my interactions with him is the excpetion to the rule. It's great to see him recognized in this story and I'm ecstatic he received the award in DC!

The US Embassy in Guatemal has issued a travel warning for Guatemala. As always, it is prudent to use common sense when visiting. And it is good to have the government point out ways to improve safety. But also remember that near everyone visits with no problems so don't be scared, just be smart...
I believe this is the first time the headline of a Guatadopt story was also a tongue twister...

It is a horrible thing that there are so many families still stuck and moreso that many of their agencies and attorneys aren't doing much about it. From everything I had heard, it is 100% ESSENTIAL that someone work closely and cooperate with the CNA in order to try to resolve and complete in-process adoptions where the birthmmother interview was not completed.

This includes those that used to be funded by adoption revenue as well as others who are facing increased numbers of children.
